It took me a week to post this – apologies for the delay – but I finally have the complete list of all 12 songs from Despicable Me with notes on the scenes they were in, plus downloads for most of them.There were 12 songs in Despicable Me, including three from Pharell, who also scored the Despicable Me soundtrack. Pharrell’s music is an interesting contrast to the other songs in the movie, such as Sweet Home Alabama and Boogie Fever, as well as, Copa Cabana and Garota de Ipanema (Girl from Ipanema).I’ve been a huge fan of Pharrell as part of N.E.R.D. and Neptunes. I was a bit surprised to see his name up there for scoring the movie, but it works, it really works. The title track, Despicable Me, plays for the first time when Grum is at the coffee shop and then heads home. The beat was unexpected but it worked. I found myself trying to figure out who it was and how a song like that got in a movie like this, until I remembered that Pharrell was at the helm.
